The verdict of Tile of Spain Awards 2024 took place on the 20th of November, with the prestigious architect Rafael de La-Hoz as the jury chairman. Jonathan Arnabat and Jordi Ayala-Bril, José González Gallegos, David Quesada and Susana Babiloni contributed their share as spokespersons in the jury gathered in Castellón.
On this occasion, Javier López Bautista was awarded for its project La Mirada Circular in Puebla de Arenoso (Castellón). According to the jury, the use of ceramic material creates a more direct relationship with the environment. A communion between the human being and the land that sustains him. Through the arrangement of the material, the idea of a panoramic viewpoint is evoked, as well as the gaze is projected onto the landscape.
On the other hand, the jury decided to award two honourable mentions to the following projects: Casa Dosmurs by Mesura Arquitectura. The project was valued for its simplicity and sensitivity in the implementation of ceramics. With very few elements, it closes a volume facing the landscape. And Yellow brick road by La Errería. The jury highlights that a single piece resolves not only the primary function of taking the visitor to the hermitage, but also all the elements that mark that route: pavements, benches, stairs, partitions, etc.
